Staying safe on Unido
Renting a room means trusting a stranger, at least at first. A few simple habits keep it safe for everyone.
See the room before you commit
Visit in person or on a video call, and meet the person, before you apply, sign, or pay. A listing that won't let you see the room is a reason to walk away.
Never send money for a place you haven't seen
No deposit, no holding fee, nothing. Anyone rushing you to send money before you've seen the room and met them is the oldest rental scam there is.
Keep the conversation on Unido
Message here until you're comfortable. Your contact details stay private until you reply, and having the conversation on record helps if something goes wrong.
Know who's real
ID verification (through Stripe) confirms a person is who they say. Look for the verified badge, and get verified yourself so others can trust you.
Trust your gut
If a deal feels too good, or someone pushes you to move fast, slow down. If something feels off, stop and report the listing or the person.
